The grid is divided into 36 crosses with joints placed at the midpoints between the nodes. This choice influenced the static calculations, detail design, fabrication and assembly of the entire construction. The entire construction recalls the principleof the Meccano game, in which similar elements are connected by pins. The structure is a project within a project; it has to meet the static requirements, assembly conditions, transport limits of the prefabricated elements, as well as the requirements of the highest Swiss energetic efficiency standard (Minergie). In this particular case, the structure also had to absorb the horizontal thrusts of the facades, allowing the passage of ventilation systems and electricity lines, the installation of sports equipment and collect roof water in the perimeter beam.
