only 4A-rated Mongolian-themed scenic area in China’s three northeastern provinces and was once listed among “100 Must-Visit Places in Heilongjiang.” Vast prairies interweave with lakes, and the site’s geography—surrounded by water on three sides—has earned it a poetic name: the Prairie Ark. However, the pandemic brought a chill to this once-vibrant land, leaving facilities gradually dusted over, cultural experiences stagnant, and the local offerings singular, with both appeal and vitality stalled. At the beginning of the project, design did not be rush into planning; instead, we chose to immerse ourselves in this environment, maintaining reverence and attentiveness amid the grandeur of Amuta. It was in this state of openness that new reflections quietly emerged: How can the rich Mongolian culture be reborn in a contemporary context? How can the natural ecosystem serve as a source of healing? And how can we create a cultural and tourism platform that attracts young people back and fosters cross-sector collaboration?
