However, beyond grand narratives and Instagram-worthy spots, and in light of the park’s 20 years of accumulation and change, we began to ask: Is there a kind of space that could more delicately integrate into the fabric of the community and more daily nourish local creative life? Taking the relationship between people and the land as our starting point, we chose not to demolish and rebuild, but to let the site’s genetic code grow naturally within a contemporary context. This renovation is as much about preservation as it is about connection.
